There is no substitute for quality. Whatever your desired output resolution, we always scan at our sensor's native resolution of 600 dots per inch. At this resolution, you can see the grain of the paper. Using powerful UNIX workstations we then rotate, resize, and enhance your image to your specifications. We can fine-tune the scaling algorithm between linear, spline, bi-cubic, or lanczos interpolation with total control over sharpening and noise reduction. Other shops simply let the scanner do the scaling, which usually results in horrible moiree effects and ugly banding. |

Capture your originals in all their full-spectrum glory. We always scan in 24 bit true color, then downconvert to whatever depth you desire. The result for color documents is obvious, with rich, natural-looking colors. The result for monochrome documents is also remarkable. By capturing all three color channels in the sensor's native resolution, we are able to fine-tune the difference between black and white by custom weighting each of the three color channels with its own gamma curve. It's like scanning the same document three times, each time under a different light. Our powerful image processing software can then analyze the image with as much information as possible.

We can take documents up to 40 inches wide and up to 10 feet long. At this size the raw file is over 5 Gigabytes. Only Seattle Scanner has the computing power to scale and rotate an image this size while performing state-of-the art image processing. When we say rotate, we're not just talking about 90,180,or 270 degree rotation. We can rotate to any arbitrary angle. We can even hand-align your your image so that a particular line or object is oriented exactly the way you want it. This is especially useful for maps and charts, where North-Up is required.
